Buyer’s Checklist: How to Buy Liquidation Pallets Online

If you plan to buy liquidation pallets online, treat the purchase like a procurement job, not a lucky dip. A short checklist done in the right order catches most expensive mistakes before any money moves. This guide is that checklist, built for resellers placing a first or second order.

Work through it top to bottom. Each step has a pass/fail test, so you always know whether to continue, ask a question or walk away from a listing.

Step 1: set a budget and a landed-cost ceiling

Start with the number you cannot exceed, not the pallet you want. Your landed cost is everything you pay before the first item sells: the pallet price, freight, import duties and taxes if you are outside the US, and any supplies you will need to process the stock.

On USA Bulk the listed price already includes freight to any country, so for US buyers the landed cost is the pallet price plus your own supplies and labor. International buyers add their own import duties and taxes. Write the ceiling down before you open a single listing.

Here is a worked example. Example figures, not a promise about any lot: ceiling of $1,500 total, minus $100 for boxes, labels and shelving, leaves $1,400 as the most you should spend on a pallet.

Step 2: shortlist departments you can actually judge

Pick two or three departments where you can tell a good item from a poor one in seconds. Familiarity is worth more than a bigger discount. The full US catalogue is organized by department and brand, so you can narrow quickly.

  • Clothing and shoes: checking is visual. Start with brand name clothing pallets or shoe pallets.
  • Toys and collectibles: quick to inspect and easy to list. See toy pallets.
  • Electronics: higher value per item, but you need a testing routine and a safe place to charge and check devices.
  • Mixed general merchandise: forgiving for bin stores and flea-market tables.

Step 3: read a listing line by line

Every listing states the lot size, the stated retail value (MSRP) where the source provides one, and the condition. Read each line as a claim you need to understand, then check it against the table below.

Listing lineWhat to confirmRed flag

Stated retail value (MSRP)It is a ceiling, not your sale priceYou are budgeting from it as if it were revenue
ConditionSource type and grade, A, B or CYou do not know what the grade means for your work

Grades are applied at lot level: Grade A is like new or unused, Grade B is fully working with light wear or damaged packaging, and Grade C is cosmetic damage or needs attention. Our condition grades guide shows how those grades combine with the source type.

Step 4: run a sell-through check before you pay

Take the stated retail value and apply a cautious sell-through. Assume a share of the lot will sell slowly, sell for parts, or not sell at all. Then subtract platform fees (check each platform’s current fees), supplies and your time.

Example figures, not a promise about any lot: a pallet with $5,000 stated retail. If you expect to realize one third of that after discounts, you are looking at about $1,667 in sales before fees and costs. If the pallet price plus those costs leaves nothing, the pallet fails the check.

For a full cost model, see our guide to landed cost on liquidation pallets.

Step 5: request a manifest or category breakdown

A manifest is an item list for the lot. Manifests or category breakdowns are available on request where the source provides one, and not every lot has one. Mystery lots, by definition, will not.

When you ask, be specific. Use our contact page and include the listing name plus the questions that matter to you:

  1. Is a manifest or category breakdown available for this lot?
  2. What is the majority condition and grade?
  3. Are there any brands or item types in the lot that platforms restrict?

If no manifest exists, decide whether you are comfortable with an unlisted mix. That is an acceptable answer for experienced buyers and a poor fit for a first pallet.

Step 6: buy liquidation pallets online

The minimum order is one pallet. Choose your pallet, check out, and pick a payment method: card payment link, bank transfer, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay and others. We then email the payment details for that method.

The pallet is reserved while we confirm payment. After that we book freight and email the tracking details. Keep the order confirmation with your records.

Step 7: prepare for receiving

US delivery is by liftgate as standard, so you do not need a forklift or a loading dock. You do need a clear drop point and a plan for the pallet once it is on the ground.

  • Clear a dry, flat area near the delivery point.
  • Have a pallet jack or a helper available if the stock must be carried inside.
  • Take photos before you open the wrap, and photograph any visible damage.
  • Stage tables, bins and labels so sorting can start immediately.
  • For electronics, keep a safe place to charge and test devices. Set aside any swollen or damaged lithium batteries and recalled items, and do not attempt repairs on them.

Our shipping page covers freight details, including international orders.

Know your exit before you buy

Inspect on arrival and compare what you received with the listing. Returns are accepted for 14 days from delivery. The customer pays return freight unless the error was ours, there is no restocking fee, and the refund is made within 5 days of inspection. The full terms are on the returns page.

Where to go next

With the budget fixed and the checklist done, browse the shelves or jump straight to a department such as electronics liquidation pallets. If a listing leaves a question open, ask through the contact page before you order.
